Dorian Bose is a second-year painter with Local 6. Before joining the union, he worked for the state but felt like he wasn’t learning and growing in his previous role. Becoming a painting apprentice has given him a career where he learns new skills, works with good people, and has a path towards advancement.
Dorian enjoys painting because it calms him and makes the day go by quickly. He also enjoys the positive work environment. “Everyone is looking out for each other, there’s more unity than in any other job. We try to get each other further.”
Joining the trades completely changed Dorian’s perspective. He gets to do what he loves while supporting his family and earning great benefits like a pension, annuity, and comprehensive healthcare. He encourages anyone looking for a career where they can learn and try new things every day to look into the union.
