DC 57 Donates 33 Customized Chromebooks to Dyslexic Graduates of Provident Charter School

Provident Charter School is a tuition-free public school based in Southwestern Pennsylvania, designed specifically for students with language-related learning differences like dyslexia. IUPAT District Council 57 wanted to support the local school by donating 33 Chromebooks to each member of the 2021 graduating class before they head off to high school.

Chris Geronimos, Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of DC 57, and Thomas Redman, Glaziers Local Union #751 Business Representative, attended the school’s graduation on Sunday, June 6 to personally distribute the custom Chromebooks to Provident’s most recent eighth-grade graduates.

Approximately 1 in every 5 children struggles with a reading disability. Provident Charter School addresses the needs of this neglected population by incorporating multi-sensory instruction into the curriculum, which is enhanced by devices like Chromebooks.

It is the sincere wish of the entire staff at DC 57 that each and every student who wants to enroll in trade school is able to. As a public organization, we hope that this donation will help the children of Providence Charter School gain the necessary skills to do just that, totally free of charge.

The Provident Charter School founder and President is Curtis Kossman of Modern Wall Systems and The Kossman Development Company.

We wish the school and its students the academic, personal, and social development that the school and students strive to achieve.
